Dr. Steber is a board-certified radiation oncologist. He joined UCBC in 2022 and sees patients at the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
A summa cum laude graduate of Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, Dr. Steber earned degrees in both biology and mathematics. He graduated with high distinction from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky where he was named co-valedictorian. Throughout his entire higher education career, Dr. Steber received a variety of academic awards including being named a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha and Arnold P. Gold Humanism honor societies.
Dr. Steber completed his internship at Wellstar Health Systems in Marietta, Georgia. During his radiation oncology residency at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Dr. Steber served as a representative of the Resident Council and as a “Good Catch” Quality Assurance and Improvement Committee resident liaison. As a senior resident, he was chosen to serve as chief resident. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Steber enjoyed mentoring rotating students and supervised several medical student research projects.
He has been a co-investigator in the creation of several prospective clinical studies. Additionally, Dr. Steber has co-authored an array of peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, oral and poster presentations. His numerous accolades include receiving the 2019 Resident Poster Viewing Recognition Award at the ASTRO Annual Meeting as well as funding for resident research including an ACRO Seed Grant and a NCORP grant.
Dr. Steber is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology, American Society for Clinical Oncology, American College of Radiation Oncology, and American Board of Radiology.
Dr. Steber’s passion for radiation oncology began with a personal connection to cancer. His mother is a cancer survivor, and he has experienced firsthand the toll the disease can take on a patient and their family. He sees it as an honor to care for patients utilizing the latest technology, instilling hope throughout their treatment.
When not in the office, Dr. Steber enjoys spending quality time with his wife, daughter, and two yellow labs as well as running, soccer, traveling, hiking, and gardening.
