Jeffrey Austin Thomas, MD, is board-certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine. He joined UCBC in 1999 following three years at the H. Lee Moffitt NCI Comprehensive Cancer and Research Center, Department of Hematology and Oncology at the University of South Florida in Tampa. A Baltimore native whose heart always was in Georgia, he is a graduate of Emory University and the Medical College of Georgia.
Dr. Thomas is attending physician at Athens Regional Medical Center and St. Mary’s Healthcare System and consulting physician at Stephens County Hospital in Toccoa and St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia. He has been an Assistant Clinical Professor at Georgia Regents University since 2000. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American College of Physicians, Georgia Society of Clinical Oncology and Medical Association of Georgia. Dr. Thomas conveys a depth of maturity, southern humor, and natural warmth to his patients that help them feel secure and comfortable with the leading-edge cancer therapies they receive.
Dr. Thomas enjoys fishing and coin collecting, as well as taking his kids on vacation to see new things and meet new people.
