A board-certified oncologist and hematologist, Dr. Priyanka Pathak joined University Cancer & Blood Center in 2023. Her fascination with the rapidly evolving science of oncology, coupled with the long-term relationships she develops with patients, fuels her passion for medical oncology.
The award-winning professional comes from a family of physicians, who inspired her academic path. Dr. Pathak graduated from medical school at Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College in Pune, India. Upon leaving her homeland, she continued her education by receiving a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Pathak completed her fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her internal medicine internship and residency took place at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, New York.
Dr. Pathak is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. In addition to being a clinician, Dr. Pathak has experience as an educator, physician leader, and medical writer. Her experience includes giving lectures on oncology, serving on the editorial board for a variety of medical journals, providing presentations at international medical meetings, co-authoring peer-reviewed manuscripts, and much more.
She channels her knowledge and experience into a patient-first approach. Dr. Pathak is grateful to be a part of their lives as she helps them navigate daunting medical challenges. She says she approaches her patients as if they were members of her family, a perspective that helps her when making medical decisions.
Dr. Pathak is married to a gastroenterologist, and the couple has two children, which she says help “keep her young.” She enjoys spending time with her family, and her hobbies include reading and traveling.
